Kathleen (Kay) Schneider June 15, 1921 - May 7, 2009
****
Kathleen (Kay) Schneider passed away at the age of 87 on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at Copper Ridge Place in Whitehorse.
Kay was born the youngest of 7 children to Arthur & Mary Borrows on a small homestead outside of Shellbrooke, Saskatchewan.
Married at 17, Kay was blessed by the birth of her 3 daughters Mabel, Betty & Jeannie.
In 1954 Kay & her children moved to Edmonton, Alberta where she met & fell in love with her second husband, Melvin(Red)Schneider.
Kay & Red moved to the Yukon in 1958, their first stop was in Whitehorse, then to Annie Lake and on to Carcross.
" A little piece of heaven " was how they often referred to their home there where they enjoyed their lives for over 30 years. In 1992 due to failing health they returned to Whitehorse where they spent their final years.
Affectionately known as "Kay" she developed many wonderful friendships over a pot of coffee & her homemade cookies. Her warm, kind, & generous spirit brought many to their home. Kay had a " Heart of gold " & always had the time to lend an ear with her never ending patience & understanding to anyone who needed a shoulder.
Kay was pre-deceased by her mother & father, 3 sisters, 3 brothers & son-in-law Jim Lindsey.
Survived by, Mabel(Merril) Terrace, B.C., Betty of Whitehorse, Yukon & Jeannie (Harold) of Whitehorse, Yukon.
Step-son Don Schneider of Merrit B.C.
Nine grandchildren & 11 great grandchildren.
Mom/Grandma will be sadly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known & loved her.
